Silversmith, Inc. Innovative Fire Hydrant Monitors:
Remotely Improve Safety, Save Money

April 2017. Silversmith, Inc., a leader in oilfield wireless communications throughout North America, has announced the beta testing of its HYDRALERT™, a real-time and remote computerized monitoring technology for fire hydrants.

Hydrants are strong and durable, but they are also subject to accidents, vandalism, theft, and freezing temperatures, all of which can compromise hydrant function in an emergency. In fact, malfunctioning hydrants in emergency situations account for millions of dollars in property damage and insurance costs, as well as needless fire fatalities. And, other than slow and costly manual inspections, fire hydrants are difficult to monitor, until now.

The HYDRALERT system is an extension of Silversmith’s current technology and their robust communication structure.

HYDRALERT is a small electronic component that retrofits existing fire hydrants, regardless of hydrant type or manufacturer. The HYDRALERT sensor unit is installed inside the hydrant, while the outer unit, containing an embedded cell modem and tamper sensors, fits against the back side of the hydrant, away from road traffic.

Any interference with the hydrant based upon pre-determined water levels or evidence of tampering will transmit an alarm. The alarm is sent wirelessly via text, email, and handheld monitor.

Silversmith's HYDRALERT is appropriate for municipalities of all sizes, plus hydrant manufacturers. Utilities, industrial and business parks, and university campuses can also benefit from this technology.

Silversmith, Inc. Completes Real-Time Testing of Products for Custody Transfer

Silversmith, Inc. announces that it's line of metering products have been submitted to real-time testing and achieved accuracy within the defined limits of custody transfer meters.

Working with Ronald E. Beaty PE and Premiere Measurement Services; Silversmith, Inc. refined and verified it's metering processes and calculations with marked improvements in both efficiency and accuracy.

The products were submitted to the Southwestern Research Institute (SwRI) for real-time testing. Across the board, Silversmith's metering products performed excellent in run by run basis comparisons. The Silversmith products showed an overal absolute difference of only 0.24% with 0.22% scatter. The resulting overall difference on a run by run basis equals 0.46%, not accounting for SwRI's published uncertainty of 0.15%.

These achieved results are well within the defined tolerances of a Custody Transfer Meter and the Silversmith, Inc. metering products have been approved for use as such.

Ronald E. Beaty is the Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Premier Measurement Services, Inc., where he serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa. Mr. Beaty is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma.

Silversmith, a privately held corporation, designs and manufactures systems for remote well monitoring and control. The company's product offerings combine state-of-the-art hardware and unique, patent pending transmission systems linked to our proprietary internet based monitoring system. Currently focused on the oil and gas industry, the company has systems implemented throughout the contiguous U.S.

Silversmith, Inc. Gas Measurement Products Pass Independent Review

Silversmith, Inc. has commissioned Ronald E. Beaty PE to conduct an independent review of Silversmith, Inc.'s line of gas measurement products.

Mr. Beaty is recognized worldwide as a measurement expert. His research has been used by the API, GPA and ISO in the development of standards. Mr. Beaty chaired the United States delegation to ISO TC 28 SC 5 and ISO TC 193 WG 3. He has also chaired the API Committee on Petroleum Measurement and the GPA Technical Section H. During his eleven year term as Chairman of the Committee on Gas Fluids Measurement, he chaired the research project to develop new coefficient data for orifice meters and prepare a new API Standard and ISO standard. He was instrumental in standardizing volume calculations by API and ISO. Mr. Beaty recently chaired the rewrite of the orifice meter standard concerning design and installation specifications. He has published over 37 papers. He has received numerous awards from national and international bodies for his accomplishments and service.

Mr. Beaty's company, Premier Measurement Services, Inc., calculated 81 results using AGA3 1992 formula and AGA8 Gross Method 2 formula, which are both used in Silversmith's product line to measure gas flow.

The median results calculated show a difference of 0.0022.

This finding, by such an industry luminary as Mr. Beaty, cements Silversmith's reputation as a world class manufacturer of gas measurement products.

Furthermore, Silversmith, Inc. has commissioned Mr. Beaty to continue working with the company to make these products even more accurate and precise.

Ronald E. Beaty is the Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Premier Measurement Services, Inc., where he serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the corporation. Silversmith, Inc. Announces Dual Valve Control Unit

Silversmith, Inc. is proud to announce the release of our first dual valve control unit. The unit controls two solenoid valves to allow equalization of both tubing and casing pressures. The resulting decompression of the tubing allows more water to enter the tubing for evacuation.

Designed initially for Gas Lift Timer applications, the increase in tubing water allows the GLT to eject more water per cycle, resulting in a decreased number of GLT injections. The system is also perfect for Single Flow line systems as the casing gas does not have to compete with the tubing pressure to reach the production line.

The Dual Valve Control Unit can be added to any existing Silversmith, Inc. Controller.
